We all need people who are willing to stand up (or lie underground) for what's right. But we also need people who are ready to do their bit in any way they can, no matter how small it might be.

We have big dreams to make the world a healthier and better place to live, but there's only so much we can do on our own. Next time you’re out shopping, think about switching (if you can) to a brand that’s B Corp certified. All B Corps have to meet really high environmental and social standards, which means your money is always going towards something good. You could even get your own workplace to think about becoming a B Corp too.

We all know that climate change is a hot topic, and there are lots of things we can collectively do to lighten our carbon footprint. We've found Do Nation really handy – they help you work out what small changes you can make to reduce your footprint and calculate how much carbon you could save. We're also big fans of the Count Us In project. It highlights 16 simple steps everyone can take and is on a mission to get a billion people involved.

It's not just businesses that should be going carbon neutral. People should be doing it too. Once you've done everything you can to cut down your carbon emissions, find an offset provider to offset the rest. Then you can go around proudly announcing how carbon neutral you are. If you're not sure what impact your business is making on the planet, mapping your carbon emissions is a good place to start. We first started mapping ours in 2004 and it's helped us make some big decisions about things like packaging and the way we source our fruit. For something a bit more tailored, we'd suggest talking to a specialist consultant or getting a really brainy person to join your team. strive for sustainable farming

If you're a business that makes food or drink, the single most important thing you can do is strive for a sustainable supply chain. We're big fans of getting boots on the ground and walking the fields with our farmers so we can understand what they're up against. But we also have a few tools, documents and standards that give us a helping hand. We use the SAI-FSA (Farm Sustainability Assessment) to improve standards on farms and make sure all new suppliers go through our supplier approval process. Our top ingredient suppliers also have innocent ‘my roles’ with annual objectives and responsibilities. Then we use our security of supply document to keep an eye on everything, including our sustainable sourcing ambitions.

No matter where they live or what they do, every single person on the planet has fundamental human rights that deserve to be respected and protected. Here at innocent, we have a bunch of tools that make sure our farms and factories are meeting human rights standards. Just like our farms, it's really important that our factories are hitting high environmental and social standards too. Our hero supplier programme encourages them to build sustainability into their business by protecting human rights, cutting down their use of water and energy, and reducing their waste. There are lots of ways we can make our offices better for the environment. Investing in better recycling and switching to a 100% renewable energy provider is a good place to start. Then there are things like low flow tap faucets, low energy lightbulbs, natural ventilation and composting facilities. We've been working with the nice people at Seismic Change to build a clever tool that sets out what a really sustainable innocent office looks like. It means that whenever we open a new one, we're really clear on what it needs to have. It also helps us with our B Corp score.
